This Monitor Top trunk has a patent date of Oct. 1871 on the double lock. This trunk came from Norway. The style denotes a Saratoga type of trunk with the ornate hardware and fine workmanship. Residing in Colorado.
This trunk belonged to Anna Dorthea Johnson [born in Bergan, Norway 1-16-1879] who came to the U.SA. in Oct. 1901. This was refinished for Anna's grandson who passed it on to his daughter!
