We tie halters out of an assortment of ropes which come in a variety of colors. We tie two extra knots in the noseband for the halters we use for training. We also double hitch a noseband on the halters in an assortment of colors out of parachute cord. Rope halters and heavier lunge lines gives us the extra tools needed to attain the desired effects when training for respect. The lunge line is 14' long with an eye splice to attach to halter and an end splice with a leather popper. These come in black or white double braid marine rope. Along with lunging, we use these ropes for desensitizing as the heavier rope makes it easier to handle and has the "live" feel.
We also make 10' reins and 22' mecate reins out of double braid marine rope with leather poppers used with our slobber straps.
